Reflections Contest WINNER!!

Bridget won 3rd place in the Reflections Contest Literature Category ages K-2 for her school, Vienna Elementary.  AND now she has won 3rd place for the whole county!!  We are so proud of her!  I think this is one of many ribbons she'll be receiving through the years.
When we got home tonight Bridget told me that she will be a writer when she grows up.  I would not be surprised if that comes true!  She is always creating stories, plays, movies that she wants to do.  She and Dillon do lots of role playing in the afternoons.
Congratulations to my amazing, smart, and funny daughter!

SciWorks Field Trip

Today was Bridget's field trip to SciWorks.  I chaperoned and watched Bridget, Abby and Lauren have a lot of fun exploring the museum.  First they watched a little show in the planetarium about the planets/stars and The Drinking Gourd (the Big Dipper - slaves would follow it north to freedom).  Then, we got free time to explore the hands-on exhibits at the museum.

Dillon's Bird

Dillon drew this bird the other day.  I'm pretty impressed for a 3 year old!  His face drawings are getting better and better too.  :)

Read Across America/Dr. Seuss Birthday

They had a character parade at school today for Dr. Seuss's birthday and Read Across America.  Bridget was Fancy Nancy!

Bridget was running to catch up with her class.  Didn't think she could run with those heels on!

Can we get a non-squinty eyed picture please?

It's hard to get a picture of Brian without squinty eyes!!

February 2011

February has been fairly uneventful (other than Owen's birth!).  I didn't even take a ton of pictures.  :(
Here are some highlights:

Playing outside...finally we are getting some more moderate weather!!

Valentine's Dance at Vienna Elementary School  (funny enough this was on 2/4 and I didn't take any pictures on 2/14!)

Hard at work!

Bridget doing homework.  Usually we do it at the kitchen table.  On this day (the 100th day of school) she did it on her living room tray table.

Dinner in the living room fort!

At the playground

At the Children's Museum

Bridget looked so grown up on this day (2-28-11).  She had picked a really cute outfit for school and I haven't gotten many toothless pictures.  Those 2 front teeth are peeking through..won't be long.  She's going to look so different with big front teeth.

Owen Stephen Zelasko

Welcome to the world the newest member of our family!  My brother, Scott and his wife, Ashley welcomed Owen Stephen to the world on February 21st!!  He was 20 3/4 inches long and 8lb 10oz.  A big guy...and he's already back to and above his birth weight this week.  Scott, Ashley, Caroline and Owen live in California, so we don't get to see a lot of them anymore.  But, we are hoping to get out there this year for a much overdue visit.

Last night we did Skype (video call) with all 4 of them.  It was fun to "see" them!  Loved seeing Owen's cute baby facial expressions, hearing his sounds, and watching him move.  Caroline is such a sweet big sister, giving Owen kisses several times while we were on the call.
We are so blessed and lucky to have such a wonderful, happy, healthy family!
Love you Scott, Ashley, Caroline and Owen!!
