Hot Sunny Day!

Today was a great, HOT day! We played on the deck in the shade in the morning. Dillon sat down on the deck with his feet through the slats and started calling “LOLLY” – at the top of his lungs. It’s so so cute!

Then after Dillon’s nap we went out and played in a kiddie pool. It’s truly not big enough for the 2 of them, but Dillon didn’t really want to stay in it long. Bridget had fun trying to go down the slide. It was almost too hot today. I refuse to turn the air on yet, so that house got a bit warm. Right now (at 9:20pm) there is a cool breeze coming in, so that feels nice. I love the warm weather, but we seem to have gone from one extreme to another without much in-between. Hopefully it will cool down just a bit this week.

Sandbox/Water table

We've been having fun playing out on the deck. There is the frog sandbox and a new water table. Dillon absolutely loves being outside - he cries when we have to come in. These are from Thursday.

The beanstalk

Bridget's preschool class went to the Children's Museum on Monday. It was a lot of fun for her to go with her friends. Bridget was especially excited because she climbed the beanstalk for the first time. I forgot my camera so we don't have pics, but we'll get them next time!! She was so pleased and I was so proud of her. YAH Bridget!!

Yesterday I said dude to Dillon and he said "duuu." It was cute.
The weather has been really nice so we've enjoyed getting outside to play in the sandbox and water table.

many posts

Keeping up with blogging is not an easy task. There are days that I don't even turn on my computer. I'm trying to do it. I'd love for it to be like an online journal of the kids - what they are doing/saying. I do that some on paper - but I am not so consistent with it. I'll go several weeks without writing anything. Tonight I had a power blogging session and posted several things. I will try to stay on task and post more often - even if I don't have a picture. It's fun to post the funny things the kids are doing - for example:

Dillon is saying Daddy (emphasis on the dd) all the time...and is so excited to see Daddy when he gets home from work (when he actual goes into the office). Gosh - he's saying so much. The other day he walked around the house saying "uh-oh I did it." hilarious! I was calling Molly yesterday and Dillon started yelling "olly." Dillon used to say thank you by making the sound hmmm-hm, but in the last couple of days he's started saying "ta-ta." I guess it's evolving and eventually he'll say thank you. We've been listening to some Dr. Suess stories on CD. One is about the scary green pants - and in the end the pants and the boy say "hello" to each other - the boy in a high voice and the pants in a low voice. Today Dillon was saying hello in both voices - or at least trying to do the low voice...it was funny! But I tell you - boys are trouble - or 2nd children. He is a climber, and has an insatiable curiosity (i love it though). However, he couldn't be more cuddly and lovable.

Bridget is very interested in what words mean (and I don't think I'm always very good at giving her good 4 year old meanings - must break out the dictionary). Her imaginative play is awesome - she's always making up stories with her princess dolls and barbies. Sometimes when she goes to bed she'll stay up and read a couple books to help her get tired. The other night Brian was getting her some books and she said, "I would prefer you put the new books under the library books b/c I prefer to read them first." :) She's just growing up so fast. I don't know how she got so incredibly tall and she's only going to get taller. She's a big kid now. But she's still my cuddly and lovable girl.

Zoo

We went to the zoo today with friends – Dave/Michelle,  Bruce/Lisa and kids.  The weather was fabulous, and we had a lot of fun.  We only got through the Africa exhibit – but the kids really enjoyed seeing the giraffes (there are 2 new babies), elephants, lions, chimps, gorillas, and rhinos.  There are way too many pics to post, but here are a few good ones.

The kids:  Dillon, Devon, Carly, Bridget, Taylor, and Ashley

There were Earth Day celebrations at the zoo – Bridget got her face painted.

Dillon really enjoyed watching the gorillas.

There was a wind machine blowing his hair – thought his face was cute!

Does it get any better than this?

Eating black bean chili

We love black bean chili - but it's usually a messy affair.
Love this pic of Bridget - her smile is so real. (I know her hair is a mess...hard to keep a hair barrette or head band in there these days)
We were trying to go cross-eyed. Bridget almost has it.
Dillon likes to copy his big sister!

Visit w/Aunt Tammy, Josh and Jake

Our nephew, Josh, will be headed to UNC Chapel Hill in the fall.  They came our way to visit the campus and us!  We haven’t seen them since Christmas, so we were excited for the visit.  I wonder if the boys will ever stop growing!!  Jake is just about as tall as me.  Bridget and Dillon love their cousins.  It’s fun seeing the way the boys play with the little kids.  It brings back memories of when they were this little and we used to play.  Now they’re grown up and into the computer, facebook, and mp3 players.

We had a really nice visit.  Can’t wait for Josh’s graduation in June!!

Easter in Chapel Hill

We spent Easter this year at my brother’s house in Chapel Hill.  Scott’s birthday also happened to fall on Easter this year.  He turned 31 this year!  We had a fun time with Scott, Ashley, Caroline, my Mom, Sarah, and their friends: Cade, Sarah Jane and Hayes.  The kids enjoyed playing together.  Caroline is such a beauty.  Seeing the 3 kids together is such fun.  Their personalities are all so different, and all so lovable.

Easter 2009

The Easter Bunny was good to us this year.  Bridget had fun looking for her basket and some hidden eggs.  Dillon’s basket was in plain site this year…but he was still excited.  He loves to get in his new car and turn the wheel back and forth really fast.  Bridget and Dillon now enjoy giving each other car rides around the house.4-12-09 (4)

A blurry picture – but shows her excitement.
