I had to go on complete bedrest at 17 1/2 weeks. It was scary time at the start, but we beat all the odds and Bridget stayed put until 34 weeks. She was born 6 weeks early on Sept. 11, 2004. An impressive 5 lbs, and beautiful! She had to be in the hospital for 6 days, just to be sure that everything was ok. Her breathing improved and she came home. Scary at first, but we fell into a good routine and Bridget started to grow and blossom. She changed from a small 5 pounder to a chunky kid. Of course, now she is the perfect 4 year old! :)
Four years have certainly gone by quickly. While by definition a preemie, she didn't stay behind her peers. She started walking at 10 1/2 months and was speaking sentences by 18 months (and you could understand what she was saying!). She continues to amaze us everyday. As our only pride and joy for 3 years and 3 months she got used to being #1, so it's taken some time for her to get used to sharing our attention, but she loves her brother so much.
There is just so much I could write - it would take forever and be a book. Bridget is writing her name, and showing interest in reading. She loves to play pretend with her dolls. She loves the princesses. While she had hoped to be an astronaut one day, her plans have now changed to being a singer. No doubt that will change again. She goes to preschool 3 days a week is quite the social butterfly. (much more than her Mommy)
Here are some pictures of her in the last 4 years:
